Well, it seems to me that you are. If not ready to jump into the dating scene right away, at least you are curious about it, otherwise why would you be reading this? One thing to remember about dating is that it's fun. If you're not essentially having fun dating, don't worry, you're not alone. There are many people out there that I know of who dread going out on a date. All I see about it is an opportunity to learn and grow, even from the situations that don't seem very successful at first. But I would only encourage you to date if you feel like you're ready.

One lady exclaimed during one of my workshops: "I don't want to date, I just want to get into a relationship", which naturally made everyone laugh. Though, essentially I can understand where she is coming from, after all, the whole point of dating is to find a meaningful relationship that makes you happy. However, don't underestimate your dating experience as meaningless. Every person you meet for a dinner or even a cup of coffee brings something meaningful into your life. Whether you can see it or not, even if you don't have such a great experience conversing with this person, you definitely learn something about yourself you didn't know before you went on that date. Next time you go on a date, try to pay closer attention to how you feel before and after you meet with this person. Do you feel calmer, more anxious; do you feel happy or depressed, angry or delighted? Remember that every feeling you get out of it is valid. And most importantly, if you are not happy about how it went, it is usually because of something you did, not something your date did. So how about exploring?

A good dating or singles coach can really help you get through your dating experience, especially if you're one of those folks who prefer a drink in front of your TV at home to a cozy little restaurant with a stranger sitting in front of you. You will get so many benefits out of it and most importantly, you will find yourself having courage to do the things you never thought you could do.
